First Impressions Are Important

First impressions are important in life. You figure out if you like someone, if you can trust them, if you even want to be around them. It’s about survival —it’s human nature.

The same thing applies when it comes to businesses. When a consumer is looking for a business to hire or to purchase from they use those same tools as when we meet someone for the first time. And the first thing they will look at to make that assessment — your website. Did you know that 94 percent of first impressions are made from your website alone?

Do you provide the products and services they need? Do you give them a way to find out more information about those products and services? And do you give them a way to contact you or start the buying process? How about look and feel? Do you seem trustworthy? Warm? Helpful?

If you answer no to any of those questions, then it's time to take a deeper look at your website and the user experience you're providing. In our minds, as business owners, we think, “Hey I provide a good product or service! People shouldn't care what my website looks like!” But, you've got to think about where consumers are. They are always connected and this is the only way they can assess your business at this point and they can do so by flipping between yours and your competition in a click.

Our minds process visuals a heck of a lot faster than the written word. So if they're jumping on a website that alienates them, alienates their sensibilities or doesn't make them feel good — maybe it’s too sterile or it's too cluttered. All of that plays into their mentality. When that comes to the forefront, that means that they might not buy your product or service because they're too confused by your branding and your marketing. We don't want that.

Your website is very important, as you can tell, and is important to making that key first impression. So here's what we did. We created Website Hours. Website Hours is basically where you can buy a package or a bundle of hours for us to provide services on your website. You don’t have to rebuild your website —we don't want to do that. Instead, if you're working on Squarespace, WordPress, GoDaddy, we can help to actually revamp your site, re-polish and make sure that it looks good so that those 94 percent of first impressions are good.
