EMAIL Marketing FAQs
What is a good open rate?
This depends on your business vertical and the type of email. A general rule though is that if you are getting 20%, you are doing pretty well.
How can I get more opens?
An instant way to get more opens is to use the "Resend to nonopens" function in Constant Contact. This typically increases the open on a given email by 10%. Above that, consider what your leads and customers want when crafting your subject line.
Should I buy an email list?
This is a big no-no for many reasons. It can get you banned from email clients like Constant Contact and typically results are very low. Depending on who you're sending to, there could be legal implications as well due to the law in your given country.
What is the best way to grow an email list?
There are lots of ways that we cover in this video. Our favorite way is to use a Privy Popup. The pricing starts at free and we have lots of cases of success!
What's the best day/time to send? The real answer is, it depends. Like many things in marketing it depends on when your audience is most likely to see and want to open your email. We find that for many audiences Tuesdays and Thursdays work well, but again, it is audience specific. What are the best practices for Subject Lines?
Write for your audience
Personalize it
Keep it short and to the point - for mobile’s sake
Use clear action words
Don't use spammy words or all caps
How often should I be sending?
This depends on your audience. Some people would love to hear from you daily and others once a month or less. We suggest adding an email preferences link so that you can segment your list based on their desired frequency.
