How To Refocus Your Mind to kickstart your day
Not having control is a horrible feeling. It’s why we watch the same movie or listen to the same song over and over again: it calms our nerves knowing what’s to come. Sometimes, though, you can’t help but feel helpless and hopeless when it seems that you don’t have control over your life, your business, your family.
As someone who works with entrepreneurs every day, I’ve quickly realized that we need to center ourselves. We need to accept that we can’t control everything and focus on what we can control… namely our thoughts.
Enter Lynne Couchara, founder of Mindset Mental Coaching. I met Lynne at a Grow with Google event in Tampa, Florida in early 2020. In March, we reconnected when she put up a LinkedIn post asking if anyone wanted to try hypnosis to calm their fears/nerves/anxiety during the onset of COVID-19. I love collecting new experiences, and I felt like it would be something that my wife and I could do together.
A few days later, we were on a Zoom call with Lynne, sharing our concerns about everything that was going on with the Coronavirus. I’m normally a very guarded person, but I found myself sharing what’s keeping me up at night: family becoming sick, the health of my parents and in-laws (who are stuck in Africa), the security of my wife and kids, and the stability of my own business. I’m pretty sure virtually all of you are having similar concerns.
